Elaine Barbara Johnson was born in New York City on February 11, 1942 to Elder Benjamin and Mother Ernestine Johnson Elaine was the youngest of six siblings: Benjamin, Clara, Doloris, Lorraine, and Robert. Elaine attended public schools in New York City and after a short stay at Voorhees College in South Carolina, she returned to New York City to work.
After a two year courtship, she married Thomas Kingston Pierre on leap year day, February, 29, 1964. From this union, God blessed them with five children James Goodwille, Thomas Kingston Jr., Melody Elaine, Angelique Nettie and Cyruss Benjamin.
Her passion for education and interest in people with developmental disabilities, led her to return to school at the College of New Rochelle, where she earned her bachelor’s and master's degrees in special education. After working in the New York City Department of Education as a teacher and guidance counselor for over 20 years, she obtained a graduate certificate in thanatology and palliative care. Elaine received her doctorate degree in Christian counseling from the Faith Bible College in Independence, Missouri.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Thomas Kingston Pierre; her sons, James ( Jacquelyn), Thomas and Cyruss; and her twin daughters, Melody (Marcus) and Angelique (Howard); four grandchildren, Joi, Mecca, Jada, and Maya; her sister, Clara Pegues; and brother, Mwamba Jabulani (formerly Robert Johnson); sisters in law, Esther, Judy, Rhoda, Yvette and Juliette and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday at 7PM in the Main Sanctuary of Greater Shiloh Church 403 Pastor Fred Davis Street, Easton, PA. Viewing begins at 5PM.
Interment services will take place on Saturday at 11AM in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
