Doris Toner In Our Care

Doris Edna Toner 88 years on Earth, lovingly known as Sue, Mom, Grand-mom, Great GM and Aunt Sue and Auntie Doris went home to be with our Lord and is reunited with her beloved Hal, her grand-son Dave, her parents, siblings, family and friends who went home before her. Our hearts were ready for this day but shattered all the same. She lived a life with very hard times but more joyous times. She was so strong, resourceful and accomplished so many things in her years. From her upbringing in London with happiness but also tragedy, living in the streets of world war, surviving as a family and having loss at a young age. She moved to America at 25 and became a citizen here and built a happy life. She loved long talks, watching her favorite movies “Dirty Dancing & Pretty Woman” and shows, cards, puzzles, gardening, traveling, cooking, baking, solitaire, the Eagles and was a master seamstress. She was so crafty and also knit everyone sweaters, blankets and scarves. Her recipes will be cooked for generations, her pot-roast, stuffing, shepherds pie, fish and chips, meatballs and Spritz Christmas cookies to name a few…. she taught us well. Her favorite perfume was ‘Beautiful’ by Estée Lauder and wore it daily. She was always there for her grand children and had special relationships with each of them. She did things her way and gained flexibility through her years. She loved shopping, buying fabric and kept a stocked pantry. One of her favorite things to do was go to the pub for a pint and a cheesesteak and finish a productive day with Amaretto Disaronna on ice. Her beloved Hal, died five years ago on the weekend of the Eagles Championship game. They won then and they are heading to the Super Bowl again! Her complete pride was centered on her family and grand and great grand-children. We have countless memories together and have traveled together to many destinations. Most importantly, she had love through her life and during the last chapter and end of her time here on Earth. She made us all laugh, think and inspired us. She knew God in her heart and was witty in her mind. She died in peace, at home with her beloved family and loads of love. She was so funny and always said, “when I pop off…. go see the world, there is so much out there…. Please go see it” We will do that Mom and we will love you forever. Per her specific wishes, her burial is next to her beloved Hal and celebration of life will be private.

Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery-Allentown.
