Calvin Raymond Young, 72, died September 21, 2019, at ManorCare, Easton, PA. He was a son of the late Calvin B. And Gladys (Sterner) Young. Calvin grew up in Pattenburg, Nj, graduated in 1965 from North Hunterdon Regional H.S. He was drafted into the army in 1966. During most of his life Calvin was self-employed in home/business repair and renovation; he was a certified building inspector. Calvin's interests included repair and collection of antique cars and tractors, flying, he had a pilot's license, golf, history, photography, travel, watching Turner Classic movies and Green Bay Packer games. Calvin was elected to post commander of the Frenchtown American Legion, Post 113 in 1997 and re-elected in 1998. Calvin was elected, also to be Hunterdon County commander (2000-2002). Calvin had a great respect for the military, both his father Calvin B and uncle Roy young were WW11 veterans. One of Calvin's biggest accolades, as post commander, was the refurbishing of the Doughboy statue which stands in front of the Frenchtown school. The statue which honors WW1 veterans was in desperate need of repair, and Calvin raised enough money to refurbish the statue. To this day, the statue still looks great. After his commander service, the Frenchtown American Legion made Calvin a life member of the American Legion. Sadly, Calvin's life ended, as with great courage, he battled cancer.
Family survivors are his sister, Bonnie, brother Robert, brother Preston and his wife Kathleen and nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 9:30AM, Northampton County Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Rd, Easton, PA
