Sandra Jean Back Plebani, 72, of Wilson Borough died Tuesday, May 19, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born February 3, 1943, in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Mary James Back and Anthony Back.
She graduated from Easton High School and studied cosmetology at Empire Beauty School. She was retired after working over 20 years as a cashier for the ShopRite Corp. Before that, she worked for 12 years as a bartender at Howard Johnson's in Phillipsburg, NJ, and various other restaurants, and worked several years at Weller Electric, Keystone Foods, and as a nurse's aide at Leader Nursing Home, all in Easton, Pa.
Sandra enjoyed gardening, bingo, crafts, garage sales, and spending time with her family and pets. She was a volunteer at Northampton Animal Shelter and was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Easton, Pa.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Plebani Mohr, son-in-law, Thurston, and granddaughter, Harmony, of Allentown, Pa. She is also survived by her brother, James Back, and his wife, Vivian, of Mogadore, Ohio, her many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and her beloved dog, Star.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Richard and Mary Back Gemmell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10AM in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church 132 South 5th Street, Easton. Viewings will be held for Sandra on Wednesday from 7-9PM in the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 9-10AM in the Church. Interment will follow Mass at Easton Cemetery.
