Raechelle K. Rogers

Raechelle Kaye Rogers was born on December 14, 1988 in Brooklyn, NY to Darren Rogers and the late Janetta Cherry.  Raechelle was affectionately called "Nina" and "Rae Rae" by her family and friends. Raechelle received her formal education in New York City.  She was cherished by all who was privileged to know her and she loved life, music and a good laugh.  Oh my goodness, let's talk about her laugh!  Raechelle had a rambunctious laugh that was ALL her own and it stood out in a crowd.  It was the type of laugh that makes you laugh (or look at her like she's crazy) when you heard it.  However, this laugh made her personality that much more special - it was the Cherry on top.  

She loved her nine siblings beyond measure and ADORED her nieces and nephews; she was the best auntie that any one could ask for.  She also loved her grandma who she affectionally called "Gamma" immensely, and whenever she saw her would give her a kiss and sit on her lap.  As a teenager, while living in NYC, Raechelle began dating the love of her life, Jose Fernandez.  After several years of dating, Raechelle relocated with her family to Allentown, PA and Jose soon followed in order to start their lives together.  They were in a loving relationship for 12 beautiful years. 

In December 2016, Raechelle was diagnosed with leukemia.  Throughout her illness she faced many challenges, but never let it affect her jovial personality and she was eager to carry on with the life she had before the unfortunate diagnosis.  During her final days, Raechelle was surrounded by her family and friends, of which her father and boyfriend never left her side.  On April 17, 2017 at 10:22 pm, in the presence of family members, God called his angel, our beloved Raechelle, home.

Raechelle was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, aunt, cousin,  girlfriend and friend.  She will live forever in our hearts.  Raechelle was preceded in death by her mother, Janetta Cherry.  She leaves to cherish her memories: her father - Darren Rogers; her 6 brothers - Darren Cherry, Rasheem Cherry, Jeston Cherry, Lashon Cherry, Tyrese Valentine and Jaheim Valentine; her 3 sisters - Catherlina Cherry, B'asia Cherry and Janaya Brown; her grandmother - Lillie Cherry; her 4 nephews - Damien Cherry, Marcus Cherry, Quentin Cherry-Ruiz, and Kobe Cherry; her 3 nieces - Jalyn Velasco, Jalissa Velasco and Aliyah Cherry; the love of her life - Jose Fernandez; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Viewing will take place on Monday from 10-12:30.  Funeral Services will follow at 12:30PM in the Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Dr. Gregory Edwards.  Interment will follow services in Greenwood Cemetery.
