Josephine Spencer

Josephine Spencer, 88, of Easton, PA passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 in her home surrounded by family.  Josephine was born January 31, 1929 in Trenton, NJ to late parents Joseph Dorsey Sr. and Beatrice (Colvin) Dorsey.  She was the fifth of nine children.  Josephine worked as a seamstress in Easton from the age of 14 until her retirement in her early 60’s.  Known for her kind smile and loving and generous spirit, Josephine was committed to her family, friends, and community.  She was a lifetime member of The Greater Shiloh Church of Easton.  She was also a faithful member of the Harriet Tubman Chapter #64 Order of the Eastern Star for 57 years.  In this capacity, she served as Worthy Matron in 1986 and held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and Esther.  Josephine touched so many lives; she was a mother, sister and friend to many.  She will be missed by all of us.  Josephine is survived by her older sister, Beatrice Pond of Framingham, MA; son, Robert Spencer Jr. of Bethlehem, PA; daughters, Darlene Spencer of Cincinnati, OH and Stephanie Spencer of Easton, PA. She has seven living grandchildren (1 deceased) and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by daughter, Audrey Strickland; brothers, Joseph, William Earl, and Oscar; sisters, Julia, Ruth, Lucretia, and Catherine. 

Funeral Services will take place on Saturday at 1PM in the Greater Shiloh Church Main Sanctuary 401 Pastor Fred Davis Street, Easton.  Viewing will be on Saturday from 12-1PM in the Church.  Additional viewing and Eastern Star Services will take place on Friday from 6-8PM in the Funeral Home.
